Hannah Martel - MSc Student

Water toxicology in abandoned mines

IMG_5347.jpg

Hannah received her bachelor's degree in problem-based biology from the Université du Québec à Montréal, specializing in ecotoxicology. She then joined Maikel Rosabal's lab (UQAM) to undertake her master's degree.

Her research project involves creating a toxicological portrait of the waters of abandoned and submerged mines in Quebec. She will first focus on developing a physicochemical and metal contamination profile of these mines, and then on identifying determining factors of toxic risk in mine water samples using various toxicological tests developed with small freshwater planktonic crustaceans, Daphnia magna.

Hannah is co-supervised by Prof. Maikel Rosabal (UQAM).
