Julia completed her bachelor's degree in natural sciences applied to the environment at the University of Quebec in Montreal. Upon graduation in 2019, she began her master's degree in biology in the laboratory of Dr. Lazar.

Through her research project, she is studying the diversity and composition of sessile , endolithic and planktonic microbial communities in the terrestrial subsurface. Her main objective is to identify the microorganisms that make up the communities of the terrestrial subsurface, then to understand the links between the diversity of the communities and various abiotic factors.
